SiLA for your devices and your PMS

Standardisation in Lab Automation (SiLA) is a communication standard advanced by appliers and suppliers of lab automation environment: www.sila.coop. SiLA standardizes the network interface between Process Management System (PMS) and the devices for the preparation, processing and diagnosis of samples. infoteam Software, an established provider of software solutions in the environment of lab automation, is a founding member of the SiLA consortium. Now they are the first supplier on the market providing a SiLA library for both PMS and devices.

• XML & Webservices - the base technology of SiLA is state of the art.
• Commands – we will show you how to use parameters in a command, what a command dictionary is, and how to implement a specific command if its functionality is required?
• Events and Data – learn about the four principle events in SiLA. What are the base data types in SiLa? What is AnIML and how to support complex data types in the data exchange?

Contents of the workshop

There is a lot to talk about SiLA. The following topics will be covered in our SiLA workshop, but be aware, that we have left enough room to do examples and exercises or handle your specific questions.

• Introduction into SiLA and benefits. What is a device class and which ones are foreseen in the standard?
• SiLA Setup – learn about the topology of a SiLA system, the integration levels and where SiLA can be used. What is specified in the standard and where is room for differentiation?
• Communication Pattern – get answers on the telegram flow to support synchronous commands, asynchronous commands, error handling et al.

• State Machine – the heart of the SiLA interface. How does a SiLA device have to behave to be SiLA compliant?
• Discovery – how can a SiLA network being set up and adjusted?
• Security – learn about the option to build your data exchange secure.
• Configuration – what can be configured and how can it be done. What is the difference in device and interface configuration?
• Tests and Certification – learn about what has to be looked after and how to become a SiLA certified product.
• Outlook – SiLA a living and expanding standard - learn about which other areas in the communication are planned to be standardized next.
