SiLA

Integrated laboratory automation systems play a significant role in the creation of high volumes of high-quality pharmaceutical and screening data. However, requirements change, technologies evolve and even mobile systems must be continuously updated to keep pace.
With SiLA (Standardisation in Lab Automation), we offer a standardised software foundation that enables easy integration of complex, automated systems. Modular systems controlled by the process management system can easily be replaced, separately tested and validated. Plug and play.

SiLA - Standardisation in Lab Automation

Standardised communication between the widest variety of laboratory equipment and the control software cuts integration costs for manufacturers and users significantly – infoteam already offers full integration of specifications in a programming library.
A range of integration levels allow the development of software that is tailored to your existing development environment and your specific requirements.

  • Level 1: SiLA-compliant drivers

No additional hardware required. The PMS is compatible with SiLA; devices are activated by drivers and plug-ins.

  • Level 2: SiLA development environment

An external conversion process translates SiLA commands from the PMS into the device-specific protocol.

  • Level 3: SiLA-certified development environment

No additional hardware required. The PMS and the devices are SiLA-compliant. Level 3 describes the simplest form in which devices can be replaced.

System integration/process management systems

We develop process management systems for controlling integrated automation systems. Current projects are increasingly using the SiLA interface to enable communication between instruments and the PMS in order to reduce the cost to our customers of integrating new equipment in the future. To this end, infoteam has developed a programming library that already supports all specifications of the SiLA standard.

Numerous practical advantages

  • Straightforward integration and adaptation of systems at lower costs
  • The replacement cost of existing integrated devices is significantly reduced
  • Access to innovative technologies is simplified
  • System integrators have greater independence in the choice of devices
  • Compatibility problems with device drivers are a thing of the past

Since its foundation, infoteam has been closely involved with the SiLA Coop along with leading international pharmaceutical companies as well as manufacturers of analysis and diagnostic equipment.
