At Biotechnica 2011, infoteam Software is presenting SiLA (Standardisation in Lab Automation), a standardized communication interface that allows simple integration of complex automated systems. Modular systems that are controlled by the process management system can easily be replaced, tested and validated. At booth F40 in Hall 9, infoteam will demonstrate how simply “plug and play” can work in the laboratory — using an interoperability device with the SiLA library developed at infoteam.

Today, high-throughput screening includes a multitude of screening projects: Various requirements, assay types and technologies need to be brought under a single umbrella. That’s why it is important to stay flexible with automation infrastructure. The SiLA standard makes it easy and economical to integrate and adapt systems. It makes reusing previously integrated devices considerably cheaper, because standardization of the laboratory set-up is much more flexible. This eases access to innovative technologies. System integrators have more freedom in selecting devices, and device driver compatibility problems are a thing of the past.
