Background information on the Usability Lab
Ergonomical aspects and the execution of usability tests are extremely important in development projects. In an ideal case usability engineering should be integrated in the product development process from the start.
Since September 2006 an interdisciplinary expert team runs the UseLab in cooperation with the central data processing center of the university . This institution provides not only professional technology but also the approporate analytic competence regarding interpretation and evaluation for the most effective performance of user analysis.
Test people in the lab work with modern audio and video devices for analysis and an eye-tracking system which records the eye movement, the direction and duration of stay on the screen.
It is possible to monitor the user‘s behaviour with the test product using this integrated method.
