SmartLINK OPC Server

Specification

The infoteam SmartLink OPC server is installed as a gateway between OPC clients and one or multiple controllers based on infoteam’s SmartPLC/embedded IEC 61131-3 runtime system.

OPC Server functionality

The OPC server on one hand acts as a client accessing distributed controllers via a special TCP/IP port on each controller enabling undisturbed parallel communication of HMI and OpenPCS engineering tools.

OPC Client Bridging

The OPC server collects global data from multiple controllers simultaneously via TCP/IP. To access these online data from different OPC clients like HMI or SCADA systems, the OPC server provides simultaneous access via COM/DCOM to multiple clients and acts as a bridge to the controllers.

Resource Identification

The resource is identified by its name given in the resource declaration of the application program. Tag names are identified by the task name and the identifier of the global variable declaration.

On the other hand it acts as an OPC-server providing all global data on the controller to other OPC-clients like HMI and SCADA systems for display and graphical user interface. The symbol table is uploaded from the controller and eliminates the need of the availability of the user application program source code.
